The airport neighborhood is also sometimes called the "planets" neighborhood because many of the street names have an astronomy (Moon, Mercury, Venus, etc.) theme. The airport neighbohood is located just north of Hwy 312/North Crossing, just west of Business Hwy 53, and just south of the Eau Claire Regional Airport. The Pinehurst shopping area is a nearby small business center with banks, grocery stores, and restaurants.

Houses

Homes generally range from 10 years to 35 years old. The Planet Street homes were built earlier and the newer homes radiate out from there. The Airport neighborhood has a wide variety of single family homes, duplexes and some rental apartments.

Schools

North High School, the newer of Eau Claire's two high schools, is located in the Airport neighborhood. The ability of students to easily walk to school is a popular selling point of homes in the Airport neighborhood. Sam Davey Elementary School is also located in this neighborhood and is very involved with community through their reading program and their Walk Back To School Day in the fall.

Parks

Riverview Park has the largest boat landing in the city and also has playground, pavilion, and swimming facilities. There is a large trailway for walking and biking.

Sam Davey Elementary School has a park and ice rink and holds Parks and Rec Summer Programs.

The Airport neighborhood is a kind of access corridor for animals to reach the river. Residents report that fox, deer, wild turkeys, eagles, and many other bird species are often seen in the neighborhood.
